Utilization of Information

STN provides more than 200 scientific and technical databases online, including literature, chemical substance, patent, factual, and full-text databases. To make maximum use of such information, it is essential to understand the content of the databases and to learn how to search and retrieve the relevant information a user needs. JAICI offers a series of workshops, technical documents and help desk support to users as required.

STN AnaVist, a tool to analyze information retrieved from STN, and STN Viewer, the patent evaluation tool for full-text patent databases on STN, are also available.

SciFinder is a tool designed for end users through an easy-to-use online system which allows them to retrieve the information from CAS Databases on their own PCs. This is a service we provide to industries and universities in Japan, and we have developed a good reputation with our users.
SciFinder does not require any specific skills, and users can operate it easily by using well-designed, user-friendly interface, thus enabling research process to be more creative and productive. Researchers actually may have more opportunities to come across new ideas or clues by accessing a wide variety of research results.
