Kyoko UENO, President of JAICI

Established in 1971 and licensed as an Incorporated Association in 1975, the Japan Association for International Chemical Information (JAICI) has played a pivotal role in the dissemination and utilization of chemical information across industry, government, and academia. To contribute to the advancement of science and technology, JAICI has steadfastly pursued its founding objectives: to stimulate the domestic distribution of chemical information and to disseminate Japanese chemical information on a global scale.

Over the past five decades, the landscape of chemical information has undergone significant transformation. The mediums through which information is conveyed, the functionalities of products, and the very purposes for which information is utilized have evolved. Initially, the focus was on "search" - finding references and data which fit your purpose. This was succeeded by the era of "analysis," where trends were identified from vast datasets. Today, we find ourselves in the era of "proposal," where data-driven predictions are the key.

Two epoch-making events have profoundly influenced this journey: the rise of the Internet and the emergence of AI. There is no argument that these advancements have brought about a paradigm shift in the information industry, with transformations occurring at an unprecedented pace.

In these uncertain times, JAICI remains committed to supporting those engaged in research and development and intellectual property protection through our services, which encompass information provision and promotion, JPO prior art searches, fact databases and software, machine translation services, and specialized search services.

Another vital aspect of our mission is to nurture the next generation of scientists. We are dedicated than ever to inspiring love for chemistry among young enthusiasts, who will lead the future development of science and technology.

Pursue Science with Information

Our commitment is “to advance science and technology and contribute to a prosperous society through chemical information-centered solutions”. With this mission engraved in our heart, we are more determined to make consistent efforts each day.

We look forward to your continued guidance and support.
